The South Fork Eel River watershed is of concern for at risk salmon and steelhead species. The 689-square mile South Fork Eel River Watershed, located within Mendocino and Humboldt counties, is one of five priority stream systems that was selected as part of the California Water Action Plan. Frank conducted river geomorphology studies within the Bull Creek Watershed under grant funding from Humboldt Redwood State Park and has also conducted research on the South Fork Eel River titled “Geology and Alluvial History in The South Fork Eel River, Humboldt County, Northern California”. Frank has provided geologic services for various public agencies and private sector clients within the Main Stem Eel and South Fork Eel River for over 40 years and is considered an expert on Bull Creek and the Eel River System. Frank Bickner participated as one of the Experts on the Panel for Bull Creek (Humboldt Redwoods State Park) as part of the team for the SHaRP (Salmon Habitat Restoration Priorities) evaluation of the South Fork Eel River Watershed.
